Firm profile

Chen & Leung is the successor of a firm that was first established in 1952 in the heart of Chinatown.  Andrew W.Y. Joe, the founder of this firm, was the first Chinese person who was granted a license to practice law in the Province of British Columbia.  He served the Chinese community for several decades, fighting enthusiastically for the public rights of Chinese people in Canada.  Though retired, Andrew Joe still maintains a relationship with the firm.

In 1994 the partners of the firm, Patrick Chen and Paul Leung along with their team of lawyers and staff took a leap of faith and moved the firm from Chinatown to Oakridge Centre.  The move helped the firm forge and build new relationships diversifying its practice and clientele.

The firm took on new challenges in the new millennium.  Patrick Chen was appointed to the Provincial Court Bench in March 2000.  Paul Leung took over the firm as the sole proprietor.  Today the firm consists of nine lawyers, six legal assistants and an array of legal support staff.

We deliver a broad range of legal expertise, including acquisition of real property, residential and commercial lending, immigration and citizenship, acquisition/sale of businesses, incorporation of companies, copyright and trademark law, contract law, commercial litigation, wills & estates, motor vehicle accidents, personal injury claims, family and matrimonial law and insurance claims, among others.
